How to become an Apprentice... Basic Requirements:18 years of age or older -NO AGE LIMIT!!High school diploma or GEDOfficial high school transcript of classes & grades receivedMust have a passing grade of a "C" in Algebra (1 year of H.S. or 1 semester of college)No felony convictions within the previous seven (7) years, there will be background checksDrug testing may be a condition for employmentDesire to work construction in all weather$20.00 Testing Fee RequiredWhat Happens Next?Fill out the application. You can get it from the website (Applications tab), through email, or stop in.You can pay through Paypal under the Applications tab or pay by cash, check, or money order. It can be mailed or dropped off.Make sure all required paper work is returned within 30 days of the application being turned in.An aptitude test will be scheduled (we schedule the date), you must achieve a minimal score of five (5).A scheduled interview will be given by KJATC.If selected, you will start work as an electrical apprentice.Remember that this can be a long process, so get your application & paperwork turned in ASAP!How to get selected:The Kalamazoo Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee conduct the selection of apprentices for the Electrical Industry. Member representatives of both management and labor organizations staff this Committee. The Committee seeks men and women who demonstrate the best character, aptitude, motivation and personality traits conducive to success in the electrical trade. Apprentice candidates are considered under the equal employment opportunity guidelines. They are required to participate in standardized testing and are personally interviewed by the KJATC.
